Do you know the benefits of being a member of your PTA?

 
First of all you are a member of the largest child advocacy group in the nation. 

Did you know that nationwide only 25% of voters has school aged children?  Because of this we must continue to work with PTA to make sure the important educational programs are not cut in this dire economic crises.

Did you know that many of the child friendly legislation that has been passed since the beginning of our last century were directly due to the efforts of PTA?  Just to name a few our child labor laws, school lunch/breakfast programs, and the juvenile justice system.

Did you know that Membership drives should be going on all year at your school.  Studies have shown that almost 18% of members join in January and February.  Have you set a Spring Membership Drive yet? 

Our new Virginia PTA President, Debi Abadie, has challenged all PTA units to increase their membership numbers to 10% in 2010! 

Lets do this!

It is imperative that these bylaws be updated at the state PTA office by the date listed or before the end of the school year.   Don't forget that there is a required 30 day notice of the bylaws changes BEFORE the meeting they are to be voted on. Allow at least two months for the process.

Menchville High School - March 24, 2010
Jenkins Elementary School - due April 8, 2010
Crittenden Middle School - due May 20, 2010
Gildersleeve Middle School - due by end of school year
Newsome Park - due end of school year
