In the next coming months, you will see that various local unit bylaws will be due to the state PTA office.

It is imperative to have this done. The review, editing, approval, and submission of your bylaws is what ensures that your unit remains in good standing with the Newport News Council of PTAs, the Peninsula District PTA, and state PTA offices. Local unit bylaws must be revised EVERY FIVE YEARS. To find out when your local units bylaws are up for revision, check your bylaws cover sheet or call or email the state PTA office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Since there must be 30 days advance notice before a vote on bylaws or amendments can be done, you must plan early to get these done on time.  Both the Newport News Council of PTAs and Peninsula District PTA recommend starting 4-6 months before your current bylaws are due for renewal.
